Web Portal "Museums of Russia" gained ISSN
Since 2002 Web Portal "Museums of Russia" (www.museum.ru) has been included
into the list of the main Russian Internet editions by the decision of
Special Committee of International ISSN Center in Paris. The Portal was
given unique number ISSN 1684-9574 of International Standard Serial
Numbering (ISSN); the number meets ISO standard. A ISSN number had been
given only to periodical editions. In the universal ISSN database there has
been recorded all stable editions from all over the world.

Cloisters of Rostov Veliky and its Outskirts
State Historical Museum and State Museum and Reserve "Rostov Kremlin" are
glad to invite you to Pokrovsky Cathedral (Saint Basil's Cathedral) to visit
the exhibition "Cloisters of Rostov Veliky and its Outskirts". The
exhibition continues the cycle "Preserved by Russian Cloisters" of State
Historical Museum. The exhibition is held in the vestry of Pokrovsky
Cathedral which represents art and historical reliquiae collected and
preserved in the main Russian monasteries.

XVII Century French Painting
In State Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts there is exhibition "Old Masters" (XVII
century French painting from the collection of State Pushkin Museum of Fine
Arts. New research and restoration). On display there is a part of the
museum's French collection which is insufficiently presented in the
permanent exposition - more than 30 paintings (mainly from store-rooms of
the museum) and paintings restored in the restoration workshops of State
Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts.

Chronicle of Historical Zone Destruction
Pushkin State Museum, Andrey Bely's Memorial Flat and "Kovcheg" Gallery
represent exhibition "Arbat Destruction" displaying photographic works by
Potresov (1902 - 1972). Extermination of the whole Arbat blocks was carried
out without any archaeological examinations and measurement of buildings.
Many symbols of former Moscow disappeared from the map of the city.
Fortunately in Alexander Potresov's archive there are negatives and prints
of destroyed city area in the district of former Arbat.

Works of Arts and Crafts
"Master, Teacher, Learner" ? this is the name of the exhibition which was
opened in the halls of All-Russian Museum of Arts and Crafts. The exhibition
is dedicated to creative work of Sergey Klykov (weaving and Somov earthen
toys) and Viktor Markin (Romanov earthen toys). On display there are works
by their teachers, and their learners as well. Three generations, three
points of view on popular art and its fate.

XX Century Icelandic Art
State Tretyakov Gallery presents exhibition "Face to Nature. XX Century
Icelandic Art". This is the first time when in Russia there is exhibition of
art of Iceland - the country which is unique for its indissoluble
combination of history, culture and peculiarity of nature. Eternal ice and
heat of bowels, desert plateau covered with lava and great mountainous
areas, wide valleys and countless waterfalls, more than 30 active volcanoes
and 300 hot wells - all this has an ineffaceable effect on life and art
images of Iceland.

To 125th Birthday of Maximilian Voloshin
State Literary Museum invites you to the exhibition "Poet's House. Past and
Present". The exhibition is dedicated to 125th birthday of Maximilian
Voloshin. Besides being author of wonderful verses and literary-artistic
assays and water-colours, he was creator of another monument - Poet's House.
This house had been a centre of so called "splendour of human relations" for
a long time before and after the death of Voloshin.

Three Sections of City
"Artkollegia", Ministry of Culture of RF and "Imptksbank" present exhibition
of photographic works by Nadezhda Kuznetsova "Silver Section". This
exhibition is the second one from the programme "Masters"; it is dedicated
to 300th anniversary of Saint Petersburg. The exhibition of works by
Nadezhda Kuznetsova "Silver Section" unites there series: "Shadow of the
City" which is arranged with drawings on photographic paper; "Soggy City"
representing photographic works retouched by a brush; "Silver Section" (gave
the name to the whole exhibition) - photographic works made in "harrowed"
manner.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. Saint Petersburg
Exhibition "Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. Saint Petersburg Age
1802-1917. To Bicentennial of Foundation of the Ministry" tells us about the
history of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs from the day of its
foundation by Emperor Alexander I till 1917. The exposition is held in
restored historical rooms of the building of the Headquarters where in
1828-1917 there was Ministry of Foreign Affairs. On display there are 65
items from the collection of the State Hermitage: paintings and drawings,
photographs, historical reliquiae, works of arts and crafts. Many things are
on display for the first time.

Oriental Collection of Gatchinsky Palace
Russian Ethnographic Museum and State Historical and Art Museum and Reserve
"Gatchina" invite you to visit exhibition "Oriental Collection of Gatchinsky
Palace". In 40-50s of the 19th century there was discovered the collection
of art of China and Japan situated in three galleries of Arsenal Square of
Gatchinsky Palace. The main part of the collection was in Chinese Gallery.
In those times visitors of the palace had been enchanted with the decoration
of the gallery.

Boguslav Khorak's Garden
In Marble Palace there is exhibition "Boguslav Khorak's Garden". Czech
designer Boguslav Khorak is one of the prominent figures of new European
design. His works are usually hand-made; he uses great deal of different
materials and achieves exceptional expressiveness with the help of playing
with forms and colours. Boguslav Khorak turns ordinary things (lamps,
mirrors, hangers and racks) into charming and aesthetically beautiful
sculptures.

In State Literary and Memorial Museum of Anna Akhmatova in Fontanny House
there is exhibition "Oh, if there's anything in the world closer to me!?".
On display there are original paintings, graphical works, autographs,
photographs which represent Akhmatova's Saint Petersburg. This exhibition is
to become striking and independent literary and artistic event in the life
of Saint Petersburg.

Chekhov's Plays on Czech Stage
On 3 October in Leterary and Memorial Museum of Dostoyevsky there was opened
exhibition "Chekhov in Czechia. Chekhov's Plays on Czech Stage". On display
there are photographs taken during various performances, playbills, drawings
by artists who decorated performances, copies of producer's letters telling
us about their ideas on plays. Moreover at the exhibition the film about the
ultimate Chekhov's staging is shown.

Russian North by the Eyes of the Restorer
Archangelsk Museum of Fine Arts invites you to exhibition "Russian North by
the Eyes of the Restorer. Textiles and Clothes". On display there are about
200 most significant textiles taken from the collection of 12 museums of
Archangelsk Region: church clothes, national textiles, toys, costumes and
head-dresses, archaeological clothes. Besides, visitors can learn about main
methods of textile restoration and preservation.

In the Library of Oslo University there is exhibition of Russian books of
the 16th - beginning of the 20th centuries from the collection of Russian
