The peak of photo art in the second half of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century gave birth to a new and special tendency in decorative art - photographic frames design. Photographic pictures were penetrating to interior more actively and sometimes they became the principle part of interior decoration. The exhibition represents Morozov's private collection of photographic frames. Among the exhibits there are works by V.Sokolov, Levitan's learner (he worked in the earlies 1900th in Sergiev Posad), A.Zinoviev (he was the head of Talashkinsky Art Studios in 1905-1907) and others modern art masters. The frames are exhibited together with photographs from the State Historical Museum. The exhibition is to last till 2 April. The exhibition will last till 3 March, 2002. The three represented icons are from the Monastery of Saint Catherine in Mount Sinai. This Monastery in the course of time became a real treasury of Christian art works. The 6th century icons are the most ancient examples of icon art we have for the present moment. They were painted with molten wax paintings on a wooden base primed with plaster. The usage of this technology helped them remain in such a good condition. "ARCHITECT CHECHULIN (On the occasion of the centenary of the birth). The Design of the House of Aeroflot". Dmitry Nikolaevich Chechulin belongs to the first generation of the Soviet architects, he graduated from an architectural institute after the revolution in 1917. Chechulin by his character was a remarkable organizer and could sensibly interpret traditions but was not an innovator, and in his architectural work he inclined to large-scale ensembles. And this feature of his work made him a key figure in Moscow town-planning in 1930-40s. "ARCHITECT VLASOV (On the occasion of the centenary of the birth). The Design of Komvuz". Alexander Vasilievich Vlasov was born in a family of a forestry specialist. All his life he was fond of nature and dreamt to create a work on decorative dendrology. In his work as an architect he was notable for his ability to make buildings and ensemble blend with land and nature surroundings. By the time he graduated from the institute, among his colleagues he became remarkable as wonderful painter and art expert. Works of decorative arts and crafts from towns Puchezh, Shuya, Yuzha, Pestiaki, Rodniki, Palekh are displayed on the exhibition. Also there are works by pupils of children's centers of creative work. This exhibition unites the towns - winners of the competition "The Strategy of Social and Cultural Development" within the Program "Small Towns". All-Russian State Library of Foreign Literature Named After M.I.Rudomino Addres: Moscow, 1, Nikoloyamskaja street Phones: (095) 915-3517 -= 5 =- Works by "Amaravella" artists The Theatre Gallery on Malaya Ordynka represents the exhibition "Amaravella" - "Svet Nesuschaya", which displays the works of P.P.Fateev, B.A.Smirnov-Rusetsky, A.P.Sardan, V.T.Chernovolenko. "Amaravella" group was established by Petr Petrovich Fateev and Boris Alekseevich Smirnov-Rusetsky in October, 1922. The main idea of "Amaravella" creative investigations was man's liberation from the chains of the Earth's attraction and the cosmos take-over through the inner evolution. Ideological and artistic credo of "Amaravella" group was formed completely after the meeting N.K.Roerich and E.I.Roerich. After dramatic events in political life of Russia in 1930-40s when lives of all the members of the group were radically changed, exhibition activity of "Amaravella" could be recommenced only in the 1960s. At the present moment works by "Amaravella" artists are deposited in some private collections, in the Museum of Cosmonautics, in the Museum of Art of the Eastern People and also in many other museums of Russia. And the exhibition is devoted to that period of life of the city. The main part of the exposition contains of original historical documents and photographs from the collection of the State Museum of History of Saint Petersburg.
